Keeping Up

Hey everybody! I realize right now this blog is very small and has few followers. I will do as much as I can to let people about this idea so more people can join and the stories can start pouring in. I hope I haven't gotten too far ahead of myself, but I realize eventually I'll need help and I've already started asking for it.

So far I have written five E-mails to President Obama asking for his support. I know he is extremely busy but i figure if I write often enough someone will have to respond eventually. If I find that the E-mails don't work, I will send a letter to the White House once a week. I know this is ambitious and perhaps a little too hopeful, but how cool would it be to actually have support from the President?

I'm going to start looking for local support as well. I know a few teachers who will help me and I am extrmely appreciative of them. I want to contact a local news team to see if they will support our cause on air or at least run a small story in the paper. I also plan on writing to the Mayor and the Governor very, very soon.

This doesn't just have to be an idea. This doesn't have to die here. I won't let it. Thank you for your support so far.

What This Blog is All About

Hi. My name is Dustin Huber. I started this blog because I realized there is nothing more important than caring for and helping others. We live in a connected world but often waste the power we possess to affect change because we fail to realize that our connections are valuable.

The country I live in is far from perfect and may always be, but I am so lucky to live here because I have the opportunity to follow my dreams. Many people across the world simply don't. So many kids across the world fear for their lives and are witnesses each day to the world's horrible injustices. Even more kids can't do the things they love because they don't have the money or the support of their peers or even their parents. To say this is a shame is an understatement. No one's fate should be determined by their geography or economic and social statuses. Everyone has the right to believe in themselves and their dreams. But everyone could use a little help.

Dream your dreams. Help others dreams their dreams. Write me a true story about how you achieved one of your dreams or goals or how you helped someone else achieve theirs and I'll send you a handmade, special something. You don't have to win the Nobel Prize or write a best-selling book. Dreams are special because they are yours. No one can touch them. Any dream, no matter how small, is important when fulfilled.

As this project grows, hopefully people will encourage others to pass the encouragement along. Everyone could use a reminder every once in a while to show that people really do care. We are not yet so lost in our own lives that we have forgotten the essence of the human spirit. Do what you can.

Impress yourself. No one will be left out.
